9th Grade Language Arts - Part 1

This online course is designed to fulfill the Language Arts requirement for 9th grade students. Language Arts 9 covers the four core areas outlined by the Common Core State Standards: reading literature, reading non-fiction, writing, and speaking and listening. The reading instruction emphasizes citing textual evidence, identifying main ideas and themes, analyzing characters, interpreting words, and understanding text structures and perspectives. The writing component focuses on argument, informative/explanatory, and narrative genres. Students will engage in various discussion formats and use digital media and public speaking to present their findings. This online course, discussion formats involve virtual discussion forums, live video sessions, and peer feedback through online platforms. Digital media integrated through assignments like creating multimedia presentations or video essays. Public speaking skills honed through online presentations, virtual debates, or recorded speeches. Students may participate asynchronously using tools like video conferencing, messaging platforms, and online collaboration tools.
